Jewellery Store
Shruti is a bespoke jewellery designer and needed to create a space which would be used as a boutique store and an office. Her collection uses high end precious stones in a contemporary and classic manner. Our client’s love for hexagons were seen all over her designs and the shape held sentimental value to her. We designed a hexagonal handle in dull gold for the main door to the store. The hexagon shape subtly continued onto our design for the jewellery displays. We designed earing and ring stands to compliment the interiors. All using grey felt in accordance to the brand and interior colour.
The site given to us was a 400 square foot ‘dead space’ at the JW Marriott Bangalore. It originally was a waiting opposite the conference room. The design needed to compliment the hotel interiors and bring attention to itself.
We designed a gallery-like layout. The space is adaptable; it can be used each day as a store with a cosy office at the end, and can be converted when required into a full-length gallery. For her meetings and a private space, we carved out a niche by creating two small walls and a tall curtain to close off the area. The displays were placed on the edges of the space to allow a client to walk around the store. We allocated a desk with chairs for her assistant, a corner wardrobe for her office essentials.
We wanted to create a space where the jewellery was treated like art. The lighting was only focussed on the display with minimal general lights. The loud wooden floors and small space ensured people were careful and quiet. Soft instrumental music is played in the background with an incense lingering around. The displays are lined with felt and all customized and designed by us.
Using only the colours from the brand book most of the surfaces were painted white. Highlights of gold were used for the jewellery display. Little touches like cornicing on the ceiling and the herringbone pattern on the floor work well to add a comfortable sense of depth.
Inspired by Shruti’s design sketch we took one of the motifs from her jewellery pieces, resized it and created a relief wall in her office space.
