Residential

This small apartment is a world of inventive and innovative design. 5ft Apart took on the challenge of reimagining a 650sq ft apartment into an efficient, youthful, and fun living space that boasts both charm and functionality.

Rather than going the traditional route of using mirrors to open up the space, this approach brings in curves and arches through the ceilings and furniture. The result? A seamless, fluid space that disrupts the rigidity of conventional design. The color palette is dominated by a combination of greys and beiges, with splashes of blush pinks and olive greens. A strange combination at first, but mastered beautifully in this home, capturing the idea of a playful spirit.

Since the house was very small, with no partitions, a partition was introduced between the bed space and living space.

A standout feature of the space is the multi-functional dining table and counter. Designed after sculptural elegance, this piece not only seamlessly integrates into the space, but also holds storage, making it multi-functional. Similarly, each piece in this space had many aspects to consider. Curved furniture choices are not just functional; they are an art form, and the living room chandelier, with its natural banana fiber finish, seamlessly bridges the gap between luxury and an earthy aesthetic.

Other design elements that help open up the space are include the reflective texture paint that create an illusion of expansiveness, along with using a light colour palette with materials like glass, and oak punctuated with subtle brass accents, meant using very little black. Similarly, smart lighting choices cast a warm and inviting glow in the space.

Despite the challenge of limited space, 5Ft Apart demonstrates how even the smallest of spaces can be transformed into an artful and functional home.
